Young Men’s Work

They seem, from the television pictures, to be the main constituent body of the pro-democracy protesters in Tahrir Square, Egypt; it follows on that they are the main casualties.

Young men with something important to say about their rights in their country. The rights of their families and friends. Or, just, young men with something to say about something. Something that matters. I hope they are heard before any more of them are injured, or worse.

I have no doubt there are similar young men in this country, but I cannot help but feel many have fallen silent. Silent on the things that should matter to them, but perhaps don’t as much as they should. The most powerful thing a person has is their voice, I should like to hear the voices of our young men far more often than I do.
